Does anyone have an idea on how deep the depression in the brake pedal for the adjustiong ball-nut is supposed to be? The brake pedals have no adjusment left on them, and when I apply the brakesthey go to within about a half inch of bottoming out before any type of brake resistance is felt.

I pulled the brake housing off, and I have plenty of brake pad on both discs on each wheel. I'm tempted to use a die, and continue the thraeds on up the adjusting rod. After looking at the depression in the brake pedal where the ball-nut rests, I got to wondering if maybe its worn out quite a ways?

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'd be happy to hear em. Thanx. Jerry

When I got my 240U the brake rods both had thick washers on them that kept the round piece out of the pedal depression. I have good linings and brakes work fine. Would suggest the washer route is easier than deeper threads, but either should work fine.

I don't have a 240-u but the IH brakes I have worked on have removable shims between the inner center casting and the outer brake casting. By removing them, it is like having thicker pads. Also I have had to replace the balls on both my IH and Case brakes. They actually wore. They were reasonable from the ih dealer.

Thanks for the heads up pon that Ken. Sounds like a better idea than threading the rod. I'll give it shot.
