Hi gents, anyone out there know what the result would be from putting a fuel pump from a 600 diesel on an MD? And yes it does fit. I had a spare pump and the one on my MD is not putting out or otherwise preforming well. Thanks Geoff

I am not sure if the pumps are the same on the 600 as they are on the MD. There is a good chance that they are. My brother has a 600 diesel and I have an MD. I would guess that the fuel settings are different, but they might very well be the same pump. Maybe someone else is more knowledgable on this than me. Over the weekend I can compare my tractor to my brother's, then maybe I can be of more help.

Thanks Carl, the plumbing is a little different and the settings are different as the 600 is almost 100 ci bigger. My question is how this will affect the running of the engine, and if it can be compensated for. I've heard of turning up the pump, could I turn it down? Geoff

Your tractor will probably run rich. It will probably smoke more than it should. You can turn down the pump. The pump on my MD is turned up a little bit to give a little more horsepower. I don't remember off the top of my head what the adjustments are. I have a manual on the pump and hopefully I can help you out when I get a chance to look at it.
