I have recently bought a BWD6 with hydraulics which I suspect are off a B450. Did the BWD6 come out with hydraulics? What are the B450 hydraulics like?

Thanks for your help!

C, yes the Super BWD6 did come out with Hydraulics. They were powered by a pump on the right front of the engine were you would expect to find the magnetoe on a gas engine. This made them a fully live system. The linkage was worked by an external two way hydraulic cylinder so the linkage would push down as well as lift up. (Good to jack up the tractor if it has a puncture). Also the drawbar moved up and down with the linkage. The B450 had a totally enclosed system but was powered by the same pump also there was no power downwards on the B450. The BWD6 hit the market in 1953 and was built until the introduction of the B450 in 1958/9. The B450 had a 55hp BD264 engine and a diff-lock.
The BWD6 engine was only 50hp and no diff-lock was fitted. Both were rated as very good tractors in the UK. There is agood photo of a B450 on www.ukred.co.uk Hope this helps, Rastas.
