I've got a line on some tire chains, but I'm out of my depth here. If I measure them, what should the measurement be to see if they will fit 10" tires on 24" rims? What is a reasonable price?

John: If your anywhere near a trucking company that uses wheel chains. These guys tend to get rid of them soon as they start getting a lot of breakage. Last time I was there I bought 3 wheel chains for $20. They are not perfect fit but with the right tools you can modify. Wheel chains that are breaking up on a 500 hp Cat truck will stand a Super A long time. I've plowed snow 4 winters and only broke one cross chain. Logging companies are your best source.

I paid $2 for my tire chains. Had to by two sets off auction that were used, but I got a good set out of them. Still have to try them this winter, but I don't think I'll have a problem.

Where are you located? I'm in Erie Pa. I just took a set of chains off of my A, and I don't use them.

John, I have a set of old truck tire chains that I use on my 42 A with 12.4/24 rear tires. They overlap the side walls by about 2". The farmer down the street from me gave them to me a few years ago. You should be able measure the circumference of the tire to check the length of the chains. Depending on the condition of the chains I would think no more than $50, and that would be the high side.
