I've tried to remove the axle on my super A by removing the inner bearing cap, retainer screw & washer, outer bearing retainer screws, and bottom oil pan. after pounding on the axle flange through a block of wood, axle has moved less than a 1/4". I notice the rear axle drive gear is up against housing. Is there something else i need to do before the axle can be pushed out of the housing? Do I need remove the axle drive gear?
Thanks all you IH fans.

You are doing everything right. I had the same trouble with my A. Just keep driving it outward. Brass between it and your BIG hammer will work. Be sure to get the spacer back in between the bull gear and the inner bearing when reinstalling the axle. Don't over tighten the outer retainer as it is potmetal. Good luck!
