fast hitch mounting troubles

I have a Farmall 544 with a fast hitch and 3point conversion arms for the fast hitch(inserts). I am mounting a 7'10" disc mower to it but due to all the weight on the cutter bar side, when I lift the mower it leans badly to that side. This only allows me to lift the mower a couple of inches max. Is there some adjustment to the fast hitch that I am missing to straighten this out? I tried lowering the one side of the fast hitch while raising the other and this didn't really help. Is this because there are no stabilizer arms on a fast hitch? Do I need to convert over and put a 3point hitch on? Any suggestions are greatly appriciated.

Thanx,
Jerry

If I remember right, there is a block built into the lift rods down by the hitch sockets with a pin that can be put in two different positions, one to lock it solid and one to let it float some. Might check to see if this is the problem. IO think there were also pins in each hitch socket toward the front that allowed them to float. These should be in the lock position except for plowing or using something that needs to float.
