I am at my wits end (it was a short trip). I have a 400 with a Char-Lynn PS. Since this is a new to me tractor, I wanted to check the fluid level. I unscrewed the wing nut from the reservoir, pulled the notched washer, pulled the cap, inspected the small rubber washer inside, inspected the spring and filter. I added some fluid. Reassembled in what I thought was the correct order.

After starting, the reservoir now leaks like a sieve. The fluid comes out of the area around the washer and wingnut. Can anyone give me some advice on proper assembly of this reservior? Anyone have documentation of this unit I can look at that shows an exploded view?

It didn't leak. I took it apart and put it back togethor. Why does it leak so badly now?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Need to make a new rubber seal to put between The cap and that wing nut put a washer between nut and rubber seal. I use a valve guide seal from a car engine works good just happened to have some that i wasn't using.

What kind of oil did you put in it, it needs a non-foaming type like Hytran or ATF. These units were not the driest most of the time anyway.

I don't know what was in it when I bought it. I have been adding hytran with the leak.
