I bought a 44 H last week. It ran fine until the line from the fuel tank to sediment bowl became clogged and no fuel was getting thru. I blew the line out and now fuel is running again. Seems like too much fuel as there is a steady drip out of the carb weep hole, and the tractor still won't start. Help!! Justin M.

I have a carb drip problem with my 42 H. I know what my problem is. The float sticks so the needle valve don't close. I shut fuel off when tractor is not in use which probably makes it more of a sure bet that the float sticks with needle open when I turn the fuel on. Is what I do is turn fuel on. Wait just a bit. Then if float is stuck (gas starts dripping) I turn fuel off. Wait tell the fuel quites dripping (carb is now full). Then I start tractor and let it run for about a minute. On my tractor the float will ussually come unstuck just with the vibration of the tractor running. If it don't, I ussually lightly tap with hammer. Trying to start it with gas running out of carb is the same thing as overchoking which will likely flood the tractor rather than start it.

If you have constant dripping from the bottom of your carb, then odds are that the float isn't set low enough, therefore the needle valve isn't shutting off the fuel before it overflows and runs out. I had the same problem with my H. you can tweak the float without taking the entire carb off the tractor. You can remove the bottom portion by removing the choke lever, the air cleaner hose, and 3 screws that hold the bottom of the carb to the top. There are some specks in the manual, but if your float isnt formed just right, the specks won't matter. You just have to adjust little by little until the flooding stops. Just make sure that the float has free movement, and doesn't hang up. Good luck. I got mine right on the 3rd try.

Your float is probably stuck, and not closing the needle valve, this is probably the most common problem on A,B,C,H,M, etc carburators. Clean your carb and put a kit in. Make sure the screen in the sediment bowl is clean, sometimes they completely rust out. A bigger problem is that your gas tank may be rusty and need cleaning. You could also have an ignition problem.

And, check the screen inside the carb inlet, the one the gas line attaches to, you have to unscrew the fitting.
