I own a H that was owned by my grandfather and he bored it and put in 350 sleeves and piston. Some 30 years ago when he was farming with it,he tore some teeth of 4th geer. Now I want to replace that gear and was wondering a Super H 4th gear would fit in place of the origanl gear. thanks for any help.

The parts you are referring to are called the 4th and 5th speed sliding gear (the one the shift lever moves) and the 3rd and 4th speed driving gear, meaning you would have to also replace the 2nd and 3rd speed sliding gear, and so on. On a practical basis, I think the answer is no, unless you want to rebuild the whole transmission. Since the 3rd and 4th gear speeds are a lot different, and the 1st and 2nd speed gears may be different--parts book is in the shop, I don't think it will work.

The best source would be your local Case/IH parts man. They will either know or can look it up in the parts manuals.

Lots of differences between the transmissions in an H and a Super H. I don't think those gears would work, But IH and several other companies did offer the faster gear sets for the H's & M's. Typically the sets offered faster speeds in 2nd., 3rd. and 4th.; First, reverse and 5th stayed the same just like in the Super H's & M's.
