Was out bushhoggin'Wed. evening and while crossing a semi rutted area, everytime the front wheels would contact a rut or windrow, it would wobble all over the place. Took the steering worm gear out an checked it. everthing looked okay. I then reassembled it and test drove it, bang, the same thing! Any pointers appreciated. I've been told to replace the sector gear and the worm gear. My tractor is a 1942 H.. Thanks and regards...

THE WARM AND WARM GEAR COULD NEED REPLACED, but first is the warm gear tight on the splines how about bearings and bushings if you have a full warm gear you could trun it to a better tooth when straight ahead. the bolster shaft could be warn where the bushings go some people but a shim on the left side of the top bushing between the bushing and bore to move it ti the right a little and make the gears a little tighter. It is most likely not just one thing.
