I have a 574 and the lifting arms, remote hyd, and steering are not working properly. If you rev the engine to high speed the lift will raise and the steering works. But the remote just barly functions. The pto works fine. I have changed the hyd filter and the fuild level is normal. At no time has the oil level dropped or ran out. What could be the problem? Also where is the best place to find a good repair manual for this rig? What am i over looking?

Not familiar with that tractor but does it have a suction screen ? If so it could need cleaning.

Hi, could be hydraulic pump, had same problem on 454 which is the same chasis. Pump is located beside the hydraulic filter, bolted to transmission housing, very easy to change.
There is also a splitter control valve in that same area that controls the divides the flow of hydraulic oil to power steering and power brakes from the rest of the hydraulic system. Sometimes this valve would stick closed and you would lose power steering and brakes. A quick fix sometimes was with the engine idling and nothing connected to the remote hydraulic outlets, activate the remote hydraulic lever until you hear the oil being forced past the relief valve. Sometimes this would free a stuck splitter control valve.
Your IH dealear can pressure test your hydraulic system.

Good luck

Do the brakes seem to work all right? On my neighbor's 574 the brake linings disintegrated and plugged the intake screen to the hydraulic pump. The whole system transmission case was full of pieces of brake lining.

OOPs, someone left the parking brake on. Leaving the parking brake on these models of British build chasis is the biggest NO NO. The indicator lamp always burns out on the dash or the sensor stops working. Great Lucas electrical system.
The result is shredded parking brake lining all thru the transmission, hydraulic lines. Expensive job to cleanup.

Actually in this case it was the service brakes. The parking brake was long gone when he got the tractor. I had the transmission open this winter to replace a broken shift arm, and replaced the parking brake, AND the indicator. He probably won't use the parking brake anyway, just plant the bucket to hold it, but when I use the thing I like to have a real parking brake.
