The water pump seized on my 1941 Farmall A. I just need help in getting it to come apart. I've removed the pump from the tractor, split the pump, and removed the belt pulley. At this point, I'm trying to get at the bearings. Should the shaft just pull out? There are no visible pins or clips. Schematics, tips, photos, etc. would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

thank you for the input. The tractor is fitted with a water pump. It has been modified in other ways as well over the years. Necessity, don't you know... I appreciate your quick responses. Chances are I'll end up investing in a new pump for it. But, it's worked hard, it deserves some new parts...

Something tells me I should leave this one alone since I know so little about this particular tractor, but I was thinking that this tractor does not have a water pump but uses thermosyphon cooling. If that is the case, then your fan hub has seized. Repairable?- That I do not know.

That's right Farmall A and Super A did not have a water pump from factory, but many have had it added. I hope this is what Dean has, if not he best disregard my post earlier. Water pumps that were used on Farmalls A, Super A, 100 and 130 were not part of the fan hub. Water pump on these was low at left front of engine and had it's own pully and was driven by fan belt. 140 is the first of that series to have water pump as part of fan hub.

It requires a press, be careful they break easy You can buy a rebuilt pump for pennies more than the kit to fix it. If you break it the rebuilt would have been dollars less.
