I have a '52 H that I replaced the oil pressure gauge on. The original did not work. I replaced it with the IH colored zone (0-45 lbs). It reads at the far left of the red zone with the tractor off, but when started it climbs and reads beyond the far right of the white zone (pegged). Once it's been running for a while and the tractor is at very low idle, it will deflect back into the right of the white zone. My question: is this normal? Do I have too much oil pressure? I expected it to read somewhere in the center of the white zone while running. Thanks.

As the other fellas said you need the 75 lb. gauge. I have a 48 H with a fresh rebuild and she runs almost pegged until warmed up and then runs around 60 psi. I have the 75 lb. gauge.

the gas engine letter series farmall's should have the 75# gauge, i believe the 45# gauges are for the old diesel's.

I have the 75 lb oil pressure gauge on my H, and on our Super MTA. The SMTA pegs the gauge all day long, except at idle when hot. My H has a fresh rebuild and runs 70 lbs no matter what.

The spec for relief valve on H and M oil pump is 75 lbs so it should definitaly peg your 45 lb gauge.
