I have picked up a 3 bottom IH mold board plow. My question is. Can our Farmall M pull it about 4 inches deep in wheat stubble? I haven't restored the plow so I have not yet had a chance to find out. If it can't then I will use our JD D which I really don't want to. I like to have IH implements matched up with IH tractors and JD implements matched up with JD tractors for show.

it will pull it just fine. I use our 400 (upgraded M) to pull 3-16's 8 inches breaking 30 year-old clay sod. 4 inches in nice wheat stubble should be no problem at all. You may even want to run a bit deeper.

Yes,
The M was rated as a three plow tractor and should have no problem at that depth. If you are new to the M's. You will find they have a surprising amt of power. I primarily use my M for pulling trees(roots and all).

I would think it would walk away with the plow.
