Removed the old sediment bowl from my tank, to install the new one. The threads inside the fitting of the tank, have been buggered up pretty bad at some point in the past. It wasn't leaking before. I'm thinking of putting some kind of thread sealer on the new one & putting it back. Give me some thoughts on this, & maybe recommend some sealers. Just don't want it to leak & ruin my new paint job. Thanks Gordon

I have had good luck by placing a good amount of teflon tape on the threads. If it will screw on at all, the teflon tape will probably take care of it.

Run a 3/8 npt die for the thread, and clean it up before reinstalling with the nylon tape....on problem threads, sometimes I use nylon tape on the OD thread, and pipe goo on the ID... every bit helps, I figure
