Have and Internation F706, Serial # 2224 S-Y, that has the C263 engine running on LPG. Pulled the head and one of the sleeves protruds above the top of the block. Does this engine have shims with the sleeves? Can this sleeve be pressedor drive back into the block?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

Richard, did you turn the engine over after removing the head and the sleeve came up? They shouldent come up as there dry and have a tight fit. If it aint up so far that the oil ring has expanded below it, clean the seating area on the block and shove it back down the head will hold it. I would check it good to see if its not cracked. what was the reason for removing the head?

It was not turned over after the head was removed. The tractor was running bad and leaking and blowing oil. We rebuilt the vaporizer and replaced the diaphram in the piece next to the vaporizer. At the same time we retorqued the head and after that notice that it was bubbling oil and water around number 3 cylinder. Head gasket was bad. We also replaced the side plate and valve cover gaskets.

Thanks, Richard

My question is why is it high ?. I would doubt that it came up with the head removal especially since it sounds like it is the underlining reason for the head removal.

Do you know the history of this tractor and who rebuilt the engine before?

You may want to play it safe and remove the sleve to see what the problem is - but first - I would buy the shop manuals and read up on this tractor. They will tell you all about how to install, remove, adjust and most important the torque and clearence specifications.

Thanks. The tractor was rebuilt in 1987, by the previous owner who had a mechanic do the rebuild. We pulled the head to replace the head gasket. The head was put back on and the tractor runs fine. Was curious as to why the sleeve may be high and how to get it down. Sleeve is not high by the eye but if you scrape the block surface you catch the sleeve with your finger. Was more curious than anything, s long as it runs as good as it does am not going to pull the head.

Thanks,
Richard
