I have my carburetor off and broken down. While doing this I found a ball (bb size) on the workbench which I am certain came from within the carb somewhere. I have the rebuild kit ready, but cannot figure out where this came from, if it really belongs in the carb, and what to do to get it back if so. My reprint I&T shop manual indicates a ball at #52 of the exploded view, near the choke stop pin. Could this be it?
The carb plate is 36525R92, and the NAPA person indicated that this is an Internationl made carb., and not a Zenith or other.
Seeing how I have some time over the holiday and would like to do something different than my desk jobI thank you in advance for your assistance so that I can get at the list.

dick and The Red have answered your question...I'll tell you that your carb.is "IH" for sure ....Back in '54 & '55 I worked in the " IHC " parts depot in Cincinnati,Ohio.....I remember those "R" part numbers well.....

Had a similar experience when I had the carb out of my 300U, and a little extra ball showed up. Now where the heck did that come from????

The Red is right as usual, it goes out on the choke lever. It and the little spring that goes with it give the lever some drag so it stays where you set it.

Gerald that carb. should be similar to the early Ms. There is a spring and ball assembly which ride under the face of that choke shaft located on the carburetor housing. Note the small hole in that choke shaft facing. When the choke is wide open, that ball should rest in that small hole so the choke doesn't close on you unless you activate it. Hope this makes sense.
