Drove across Utah on I-70 yesterday. Only green east of the San Rafael swell was a couple of feet on either side of the road where what water there was that hit the road ended up. Lots of grass looks black (dead), not just brown. Driest I've seen in over 20 years of driving that road, and it's only early June. Little better at higher elevations, but not much. Be amazingly lucky if we don't have some really, really major fires out here this year - we're certainly off to a good start in that direction already.

For those thinking about vacation in the Rockies this year - might think about waiting until the drought breaks, or at least check the conditions where you're heading beforehand.

Too wet in south half of Minnesota. They're gonna change the state motto from Land of 10,000 lakes to Land of 12,000 lakes. Northern half was dry but is now getting some rain now. Some places get 3 or 4 inches at a time. Enough allready. G.

Not dry at all here, wish we could give you some of our rain, hehe. We are having a hard time just getting our crops in up here, the fields just never seem to dry up enough to work them. Fortuneatly at our farm we were able to sneak the crops in real quick in between rains when it dried up just barely enough.

Steve, we got lucky here in Outagamie county, the hay crop actually came through for us a lot better than first anticipated. Some spots are bad in one of our first year fields because of the very wet start to the spring season, disease seemed to be a bit of a problem in that particular field also. But the rest of the older stands held up quite nicely. Any day now we should be harvesting first crop. Curt

Curt, where are you in E Central Wis? I live in central Illinois but was raised in Waupaca County, Wis, and own a small farm there. Are you anywhere near there?

Don, I live in Outagamie county on a small farm also, we have about 220 acres and raise about 60 dairy cattle. Since this is a tractor forum, I might just as well say what tractors we have, all IH except for our JD 730. We have a 1026, (a rarer one) an 806 D, a 706 G, two 460's(one is a high utility and one is a farmall) and a farmall 350. Curt

You may already know this, but that 460 HI-Utility is probably even rarer than the 1026!

I would certainly agree with you. (I forgot to state in my post that that one is rare also) I dont know, however, how many 1026's or 460 HI Utility's were made, do you know? Im kinda curious now that i think about it.

Don't know about the 460 HI-Utility, but according to Ken Updike's book, "IH Tractors, 1955-1985", there were 2,414 Farmall 1026's and only 58 International (standard tread, utility, industrial) 1026's. I've only seen one 1026 in my life, and never a 460 HI-Utility. I also have two rare ones, a 240 Row-Crop (3,600 of those built) and a 786 (1,844 built) kind of a "working collection".

Yeah and idiots that throw cigarettes out the window will certainly start fires. I see pasture burned up here in Texas every year from that when it stops raining. If you are gonna smoke the nasty things, at least have the decency to take the butts to the trash where they can be buried instead of burning acres of grazing or just littering up the roadside. Smokers aer very inconsiderate, like every one should enjoy their disgusting habit.

don't be too quick to put all the fire blame on the smokers. I was coming up the highway after dark a few years ago in my 83 eldorado and just happened to see a bunch of sparks rolling down the highway behind me. but get this guys, I don't smoke and had met no other cars.

Well...did you ever think you may have had something dragging or your old car was making those sparks???? Sparks don't just follow you down the road. Are you a dumba55?

"Sparks were following me down the road". You are probably a drug addict or a drunk or both.

Amen to that Carl P. We have already had grass fires here in East Texas. Mainly on the roadside. Wonder what started them?

This is a tractor board, its not about smoking. I smoke and resent your remarks very much. I make sure that no one smells my smoke that doesn't want to, and I have yet to put a butt where it doesn't belong. Smoking was here long before us, and will be here long after we're gone. But anyone that throws a butt out the window should be made to pick them up for a few miles and that would cure thier problem.
