I need to replace the bendix gear on a starter for an H. Is this hard? What steps are involved.

You will find that the Bendix's are a bit pricey.

Best price I found was at Steel Wheel Ranch.

I found a used complete starter cheaper than a new Bendix.

Its been about 3 years since I replaced one,but as I recall it was fairly easy.After the starter is off the tractor remove the two long bolts holding the starter together,there may be some screws holding a plate inside you will have to remove.Best I remember mine (the bendix) was fastened with a couple of bolts.BE careful with the brushes on reassembly.Hope this helps,someone in this area more recent could probaly help you more.Ed
