Warning better stay away from this one !!!

Someone who does not know any better is gonna get burned real bad in my opion.

Today the seller has added a note to his listing stating this: "THE TRACTOR IS A 1946 MODEL "H" THAT IS CONVERTED TO A SUPER "H" MODEL".

He was contacted and asked how this conversation was completed, in order to make a regular ol H into a Super H.

Other than installing the Super H decals on the hood, what elese was done to make this into a Super H now ???.

He advised that he had installed an oversize piston and sleeve kit into it while going through the engine, and that by doing so it made a Super H without any question at all. He futher said that this was a very common thing to do to the H and M Farmall tractors, and that he has done it to a lot and them then they can be sold as a Super model.

I advised him that a Super H model was only made in 53 & 54 and did have some other differences such as disk brakes, the grill, the logo on the grill, the placement of the battery due to the 2 stages that were built and so on.

He said that he did not know anything about any 2 stage crap, nor did he seem to care.

He insisted that the piston and sleeve kit he installed into the tractor had made it into a Super H, without any question regurardless of the model year of production or anything else.

Heck this tractor could turn out to be VERY rare,
What if the seller were to add something like:
"This tractor has only been used to take a little old lady to church on sunday's".

This is also from his listing: "FOR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS CALL (910) 865-3258 OR EMAIL EDD7229@EARTHLINK.NET." GOOD LUCK!

I think that someone will really be needing the GOOD LUCK ! part if they get ahold this one.

GLAD I AM NOT BIDDING

The link to the tractor is attached.

What difference does it make? A lot of tractors are sold and the seller has no idea what kind of tractor he has or very little about it. Why? Maybe he inhereited it or it was given to him; maybe it came with the farm. The bottom line for anyone buying anything is $$$$$$. If the price is right, go for it. If he is going to restore the tractor to orginal factory condition like I'm doing, then he will be educated enough to know what he is buying and will not be taken. But he wants a work tractor, he does not care if it's a 46 or 47. Research, Research, Research!!!! Farmall any Farmall is good to have as long as the price is right. I agreee with some of the other posts, let's keep our personal opions to our selves and let's use this site for it's purpose, helping each other getting our iron right. Maybe the buyer of that tractor will be logging on soon to ask some of the experts here what year is his Super H. A little warning here..... be nice.

If he had only said that It was a "H" with a Super kit, fully re-stored there wouldn't wouldn't have been a problem with the advertisement. My 2 cents

Wasn't going to post my .01 worth but I figured I have to vent. Here is a guy that is trying to sell a tractor to what HE believes what he has. If you will notice it has a place where you can ask the seller question you have concerning the tractor. So if your not interested why criticize the poor guy.

I have seen some extremely out priced tractors on this sight. I have even seen some of them advertised for something that they weren't. Why is it when you see one on ebay that they have to be picked apart by the people in this forum. I used to think this was a decent place to visit. After reading some of the post here I wonder. Was thinking I was on the pulling forum, not the farmall one.

You guys critisize the tractor he is trying to sell and then in turn want him to send you info on the ones he's not selling. If your interested in the tractor then point this out to him. Because of this post I bet he has had more emails ctitisizing the tractor than people interested in it.

I'm not sure what the guy's reserve is but at the current price it's still cheep for an H. As I am sure most of us old tractor people know it don't take long to put a 1000.00 into one of these. Something someone always said to me: what comes around goes around. Hope to see one of yours on auction so we can pick it apart. Surprised no one mentioned it didn't have a battery box or a pto shield on it. Hope the guy gets it sold dispite your critisizim.

PS> Why is it people are alway critisizing ebay, if you don't like it stay away. I have boughted plenty of stuff off ebay with very good luck. Who knows maybe I'll have a couple of tractors on there to see what kind of response i get.
Thanks

After my earlier post I've had some second thoughts. I once heard a young student doing an interview with a local gas station operator, something for a student or community newspaper. The gas station operatior was a wheeler-dealer type guy. Young student wanted his best discription of an enterpernure. His responce, ( he was a bit agitated at this point you could tell) " It is the ability of a business person to relieve over paid people of their money." Maybe that is what the guy selling on e-bay is doing. He isn't going to get you guys. He does inflate the cost of this hobby.

On Apr-25-02 at 18:26:37 PDT, seller added the following information:
ADDITION TO ITEM DESCRIPTION: THE HYDRAULICS SYSTEM WAS PUT IN THE TRACTOR. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT BY PUTTING THE HYDRAULICS SYSTEM ALONE DOESN'T MAKE IT A SUPER "H" MODEL. THE TRACTOR IS A 1946 "H" MODEL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I DIDN'T MEAN TO CONFUSE ANYONE OR TRY TO SELL IT UNDER FALSE PRETENSE. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING!

read on down on his list he has printed this statememt

I imagion you guys have taken the steam out of most of the bidders. That is exactly what he deserves. Oh yes there are those few people that will not be outbid, or bid because it is the same as the one some ancestor owned. There is absolutely nothing you can do between a fool and his money, they will part company anyway.

I e-mailed him about the specifics of a 'super' model. no response.....should have known. I want to know if he was going to list the 'SUPER' F-30 he's got in the background. Since my Regular, F-20, and my 450 have all been punched out, are they SUPER models too???? I could almost have a whole SUPER collection!!! not to be a smart a#*

At least he did try to make good his discription of the tractor.
Buying from any auction can be a risky business, even Ebay!(Or is that especially on Ebay?)
That is why most people won't pay as much from an auction as they'd pay when buying from an individual. Of course there's always the guy who won't be out bid at any price. He'll pay twice what somethings worth just so he doesn't get out bid.
So if you're going to bid on items then let the buyer beware!

I agree completely with what your saying. Someone could get burned. The only thing that could be beneficial is if the bidders all know the difference and only carry the bid to H status. That would be poetic justice.

A lot of people think this way.
I know a guy that when he overhauls a M he always puts Super M decals on them.

I also contacted him with a list of the differences between an H and Super H. He has not gotten back to me. What a crook! I'm putting oversize pistons in my 42 H - and they are even step-head so it must be a Super Duper H!! Along with my 300 "cold" manifold it should outpull a 450!! Just kidding of course, but hey - anything is legal on eBay! Did you happen to notice the other "super" H in the background?

I see that now he has received enough information to fix his listing: "ADDITION TO ITEM DESCRIPTION: THE HYDRAULICS SYSTEM WAS PUT IN THE TRACTOR. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT BY PUTTING THE HYDRAULICS SYSTEM ALONE DOESN'T MAKE IT A SUPER "H" MODEL. THE TRACTOR IS A 1946 "H" MODEL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Actually it is a "Super" M in the background I also e-mailed this guy.....no response. He does have what appears to be an F-30 or in his terms a "Super" F-30. Not trying to be a smart a## I got a kick out of the super M thing though.
