Kathleen, you are the happy owner of a 1940 Farmall"A".If it runs on gas it has 16.8 hp at the belt pulley, and 12 hp at the drawbar. That year they made 34,756 tractors. They are a real pleasure to drive and work with, and parts are plentyful.Do you and your GENEROUS husband intend on restoring it for show or just useing it for chores and fun?? Will!!

Here is some additional information: It was made in the Chicago Plant. Designed for one 15" Bottom Plow. It has a 113 CID 4 cylinder engine and has a weight ranging from 1,870 to 3,500 pounds depending what is included on the machine.

The engine on this tractor, a 1937 John Deere "B", had been stuck for 2 years before he gave it to me. This last spring (1999) I hauled the tractor to our 2 acre lot in St. Libory Nebraska where it joined my antique machinery collection, at that time a 1929 Caterpillar T ... [Read Article]
