Any help with a year and approx. horsepower rating for a International HYDRA 186? The tractor is sitting on 38" rubber CAT 2 3-point hitch w/dual hydraulics. Also did these tractors have any problems to speak of? Thanks.

You will not have any problem with 4 bottom plow
and as Honkey said they are awesome. My brother got a 100 after I hounded for years his son said no way untill they had it for a short time it had a turbo when they got it run 140 horse no Hydro problems but they did not go full out on horses except on PTO, they loved the tractor.

Hydros do not work well for heavy tillage work. They CAN be used, but be cautioned that the hydro can cost around $7000 to repair! The hydro was bad on our 656 and they quoted $5000 to repair it.

Go with a gear shift for plowing.

Hi Ted,
186 hydro's hp is right at 100hp. They were made in the mid to late 70's and early 80's along with the 86 series. I have a Hydro 100, the 186's older brother, and I love it! Some will tell you to stay away from it because of the hydro. As the hydro's are not best for heavy tillage. But they are an awesome loader and baler tractor among other things, snowblowers especially. Be sure to change the hytran and filters.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking for a 4 or 5 bottom tractor so I might pass up this one. Thanks again.
