I have Farmall Super C. It was my Grandfather's machine and I don't believe he "rigged" it at all, but would like to know before tearing aprt the whole machine, whether the clutch has six springs or thre springs. I know this machine needs a head rebuild, and the clutch rebiult, among other things. I just don't need to purchase major $$$ then find out it's the wrong clutch.

Don't buy any clutch parts until you get the tractor split and the clutch out. The cheapest and easiest way to fix the clutch will be to take the clutch and the flywheel to a clutch rebuild shop. There is probably one around near you. I've done several old tractor clutches and that's how I've done them all. At the shop I use, usually they have the parts in stock and I can get same day service.

Your tractor serial number will tell you what type clutch you have. If there is a suffix (J, I believe) it had a Rockford clutch. The lack of the J at the end of the serial number would indicate it was an Auburn. Scotty

I don't know specifically what clutch(s) were used on a Super C, but IH often used more than one supplier for those kinds of parts during a model run.
I wouldn't buy any parts until I took it apart to see what's inside. Just my opinion though. Others may see it differently.
