Gene I have a 1945 model B. On the right diferential housing, toward the bottom there is the monted attachment drive. My question is. Can this be removed & replaced with just a cap like is on the oppsoite side? I have intentions of mounting a belly mower after getting it fixed up & have no need for this drive. The shaft is worn & leaking oil. Also where the battery box mounts to the torque tube. Is there supose to be a flat strap that mounts to the left side of the torque tube on top that the box bolts to? I can't tell in guy Fay's originality guide, but thats what it looks like to me from the pictures. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys thanks for the info. I'll take your advice gene & reseal it. I have the original planters & fertilize distributors to go along with the tractor. They are all in good shape were kept in a barn for all these years. Who knows once I get the tractor restored, I may just restore the implements too. Again thanks for your time..... ..Gordon

the drive that sticks thru can be removed but you will need a different shaft I would put a new seal on the one you have as the mower wont interfear with it the new battery box fastens with 4 cap screws the one by the steering support is where the positive ground cable fastens to also your best buy if you need a new box is from PILOT KNOB in GALENA, ILL 815-777-0826 his quality is far above the rest save the pieces of the axle shaft there are people who want the gear for the fertilizer on a planter this gear is what drives it they are hard to find glad to help gene b

Gordon Yes you can remove and cap. Save parts as you or someone else may them. The ears on battery box are welded to bottom of box, have to ck mine to see if there is 1 or 2. lol MD
