Lets find out what part of the country we all are from? What state is best represented?
And if you do farm what do you grow?

This fairly new Red Tractor guy hails from Northern Ontario Canada. No farming here, but I really enjoy working on and driving my Farmall A.
Lately though me and some buddies have been busy catching Walleyes and Northerns through the ice.
I tune in to this site practically every day for a quick look at what is going on, I'm always cruising for anything on the A, or general fixes of problems. Great site.

Lived north of Indianapolis In, until last fall, Moved to Hymera, IN in Sulivan county IN which is south of Terre Haute. I work on Old tractors(older the better), steam equipment,Antique cars. Do some custom wood working using only antique hand tools, do a little blacksmithing, Sell rare high performance (64-72 442 and W-30)Oldsmobile parts nation wide, occaisional tractor hauling, scrap iron steel aluminum and brass, Mechanic, etc. My dream, since 3 yrs old,to farm the familys 500 acres was shot down too many times over the years, so I am looking for my own place to hay, grow some veg, herbs and other high dollar (higher labor)value added crops for sale directly to restaurants and grocery stores and the public.

I live in North Central Mississippi and have a family farm in North Central Alabama. I keep one tractor at each place on a permanent basis and have two that travel back and forth as needed. Tractors earn their keep doing maintenance and landscaping. My job does not allow me to spend enough time on the farm for crops or animals. It is tough to have the land and equipment paid for and face the reality that the best financial move is to leave it parked. Other post have indicated that many face the tough choice of leaving the land you love inorder to make a living or to be able to hold on to the land.

There was an old dredge boat worker who popeye was modeled after. He used to float and dredge the Coosa River 1/4 mile from the house. I grew up around farms, working as a youth. All the farms, but one, are now gone. I have a '48 Farmall M that I'm restoring. My father remembers when it was unloaded new, next door to my house, my grandfather's place.

In Fannin County, Georgia, about 10 miles south of the NC/TN borders (where NC & TN meet). Have a IH 300 U that I use to pull trees etc up my front yard for fire wood. Only have about 4+ acres so obviously don't farm but won't move back to any city as long as I don't absolutely have to. I'm retired and 65 years old.

I teach Ag. Classes in SW Missouri, a little town called Jasper. This is my second year teaching. Last year our chapter restored 2 tractors, a 1948 Farmall Cub and a 1939 Allis-Chalmers WC. This year, we've got our hands full. 1955 Allis-Chalmers WD, 1958 John Deere 430W, 1937 John Deere B, 1941 John Deere B, 1947 John Deere A, 1941 Farmall H, 1935 Farmall F-20, 1937 Allis-Chalmers WC. I guess that is about it. I've had to limit the amount of projects in the shop because of lack of space. A regional paper did a feature story on the tractor restoration we do, a pretty nice article. The 35 F-20 and the 37 WC were both given to us this year by a very nice man north of Kansas City. He saw the restoration work that we did at the Missouri State Fair last year and decided to donate his old project tractors to us. Ahh....what a nice fundraiser for us. We've just gotta find room to finish them. But. I personally own a 1937 F-20, a 1945 Farmall M, and a 1959 Oliver 770. I don't have time to farm, just keeping up with the FFA keeps me busy. This site is an excellent resource for me though, thanks to everyone. And...Oh yeah, to answer the question again....

Spend the weekdays slaving over a hot desk in the cradle of agriculture, New York City. Weekends, the occasional evening and any other days I can pull it off are spent trying to keep up with 40 acres in the Catskills. If you can call it farming at all, it's strictly hobby farming. 20+ acres in woods( with a lot of tote roads built in the 1840's and 50s--too steep some of them for tractoring),4-5 right around the house and barn are in lawn, garden and a small orchard. The remainder is in pasture. The acid rain has gotten so bad the pasture needs a good renovation--discing up with a heavy liming and seeding over. Good work for the SuperC. Grew up in Virginia, summered on the farm where my mother grew up in Central Ohio, helping my grandfather and his father.

I live in SW Iowa with a SMTA, M, Dad's last M, H, & 300. Other than my alfalfa I plant "food plots" for wildlife on anybody's land that wants em. Dick Davis
