Have a Super M and one of my headlights doesn't work. Replaced it. Realize it must be a ground problem, but how do I check. I know little to nothing about wiring. Thanks!

All the posts are good advice. I have seen the old original wires broken inside the light bar tube as well as grounding problems that were mentioned, if you have a multimeter check for DC voltage at the wire with you meter, place one meter lead on the wire and the other to a good ground. Meter should read the battery voltage if the wire is good.

There is a ground strip attached to the inside of the light housing that must touch the reflector to form the ground. Sounds like it is not making contact with the refector. Just bend it out so that it will be touching the reflector after you have reassembled the light.

Check resistance with your multi-meter.

Thanks Dave, but how the heck do I check resistance with my multi-meter? Not a clue what you mean. Sorry and thanks!

To check resistance, set multi-meter on ohms. Then check your ground by placing one lead on your light or ground wire from the light, and the other on the ground cable on the battery. If you have a bad ground, your resistane will be high. A good ground will read as a low reading 1-3 ohms. If it is any higher than this you should clean your connections and mounts.

Matthew,
Thanks for the explanation. It seems that there is just one wire coming out of my light. Also. Clean connections and mounts? Battery Thanks

More than likely your ground problem is where the light assembly clamps to the light bar. Remove it and clean up the bar and the inside of the clamp. You might also have to file the top of the clamp and both sides of the spacer between the light housing and the clamp. Make sure the lamp housing is clean where the spacer lays against it.

If you only have one wire then your light is grounded through it's base or where it mounts. If it is rusty your ground will be poor.

One thing to remember when you are checking resistance You need to DISCONECT HE POWER or you will blow your meter out, also make sure the battery is fresh in the meter if you are looking for accurate measurements lol :)
