What do I do with my wife???

A couple of weeks ago I aquired a 1960 wheel horse garden tractor in a trade and I've started restoring it. It does run really good, but looked terrible.
Now my problem is that my wife really thought I was nuts when she first saw this tractor, she thought that I needed another tractor like a hole in my head. My wife has never been very supportive of my tractor hobby!
However as this little tractor is coming along with some sand blasting and primer she's starting to lay claim to it! Yesterday when I refered to my little tractor she jumped in there and said "What do you mean YOUR tractor!"
Now how do I keep her from laying total claim to it? Maybe I sould get rid of it, or her?...Gee I wonder what I'd do with out her?
Seriously if she would get alittle interested in my tractor hobby, I'd buy her any little tractor she wanted, if I could afford it.
Anyone got a cub or an A their willing to donate in the name of marital bliss?

Zonie, I got a deal for you. I got a woman I'll
give you, and throw in a good restored Farmall
H. I catch is you have to keep the woman or the
tractor comes home too. She cleans up pretty good
and not too bad of a cook, but doesn't know any-
thing about a farm or equipment.
P.S. I'm sure with the added tractor it will help
your marital status.

Okay, this is my final offer, I'll throw in a set of rear wheel weights in for the H too. You better
think about this deal. It's too good to pass up.

My wife has been trying to lay claim to my Allis B since I brought it home.Took two diamonds and a complete kitchen remodeling job to unleash her claim.Don't quite understand the justice though,1 Allis B with a sawmill and a buzz saw powered by a JD LUA power unit-$1700.Two diamonds and new kitchen-$20,000.I do like to eat,and this does keep her in the kitchen, however I would advise you folks out there not to let your wife see this post.

She likes the Wheel Horse, sounds like your answer right there. Most of us have wives and are too strapped to give away a tractor to make your's happy.

If you haven't figured out what to do with your wife yet, I won't be the one to tell you. Just what did you get married for anyway?

My wife backed on harrassing me about tractors after I hauled home her father's Farmal B. Now she's envolved.

I went through a similar deal with my wife and my first Super C. She was supportive though and even helped track down parts. Well, we found a second nearly perfect Super C for only $1000 and latched on to it on site and she laid claim to it. I reluctantly agreed and it was the best thing I ever did, I am able to do or buy most anything in reason concerning my "tractor habit" with no complaints from her, as long as she can buy something for her SC once in a while, which I have no problem with AT ALL!!!!

I think Glenn has the best idea. If there really is a spark of interest there, you've gained a partner and ally. If she's bluffing, you've called her on it and can decide how to proceed using the new knowledge you've gained.

One of his books was given to me at Christmas. What a dumb book! I guess he thinks he's funny. Certainly the information that he tried to pass along as helpful was stuff a guy had figured out in high school shop class. I slogged through it out of a sense of obligation since it was a gift but it's gift status wasn't enough to save it from the round file once I was through. He sounds like a real hacker, who skirts his temerity with such real issues as body and paint work with the claim that he likes the way they look all rusted and beat up. In the stead of useful information he focuses instead on such gems as how his workbench is arranged, and how to properly dispose of old fluids. I can't think of a single point he passed along that was of the slightest use, let alone contained any entertainment value. The subject of Roger Welch's books has a certain appeal to a limited but passionately dedicated audience and had the potential to be both informative and amusing. As it turned out, he dropped the crank on the first turn and his book never got started. Too bad. The only people who buy more than one of his books must be kidding themselves into thinking that just because the subject concerns old tractors that it is going to be good. I certainly won't be among them.

I would make a deal with her " If you restore it you can claim it."You might be surprised at how far a little elbow grease can go.

I'd try that except my wife is badly disabled and couldn't do much if anything towards the restoration.:(

Sorry Zonie,Try letting her get involved in the old iron history. You may find she really takes to a particular tractor giving you both similar goals. That may really change her supportiveness.
