I went out to use my 300U. the other day and found that the Hyd. fluid was like thick slush in the tank, so obviously no movement on the cylinders. The fluid also looked quite white-ish.It did go to -34C last week for a couple days.Any tips on how best to drain ALL of the fluid(dual acting cylinders)? Any ideas why this might have happened? Should I put in some kind of filter while I have the system drained?

drain all of it out and then take an air gun and blow the rest of the gunk out. That usually is the best way.

white means water. either from humidity, rain or washing tractor. check vents and dip stick. only way to clean it is to drain as much as possible, refill with hydraulic- trans fluid. run for several hours and chekc. might have to change again if it looks too bad. you can buy trans-hydraulic fluid at Wal-Mart or farm store. it has move water dispersants and anti foaming than engine oil.
