A while back we had a pretty good discussion about a 1468 that Jack and I saw at a Florida Flywheelers Swap Meet a week or so ago.

I may have missed something, but I don't recall that we ever defined what engine that tractor had. Some said it was based on a 549 CID International engine. I have since heard that it was a Perkins engine, like the one used in the Massey-Ferguson 1155.

Does anybody know for sure?

Just as an added bit of info - Ford and Navistar have entered into a joint venture to build medium duty trucks in Mexico. Same chassis but different cabs.

I need a tach drive, and a cylinder oiling tube for a 1468 tractor. I am trying to repair this tractor.

John,

Thanks for the reply. Does the DV-550 mean 550 cubes?

It is an IH engine and I heard it was based on the old 549 gas engine block that the big trucks used.

I had a wondreing... what if a guy wanted to build one out of a 1466 or 1566 using a 7.3 (455ci.) IH/Navistar engine? It would som more power, and would be cool to have One More "Hot Rod Tractor". And, If I ever wanted a 1468 or 1568, I'd just about have to around here 'cause I've NEVER seen one in person. If ya' think it would work maybe I'll do it in a few years...

If someone is looking for a 1468, I have one that I'm thinking of selling. Just put in a new clutch and some transmission work. Runs great-probably not a huge amount of hours, but I can't guarantee since I'm at least the third owner.
