This topic worked it's way back to page 2 or 3 before I got done with it. Anyway, With the hints from Randy and Haas and studying the parts book, it looks as if one could remove the outer bearing retainer, seal and bearing, then remove the axle housing, leaving the axle in place, and replace that inner seal. Is this possible or am I missing something?

See my post back at the original thread. The inner bearing is held in the axle carrier by a retainer that is bolted in place. I think there is a shoulder on the axle which the inner race of the bearing rides against. Thus the bearing and retainer will prevent pulling the axle carrier off without removing the axle and carrier as a unit first.
