Just put a new oil preasure gauge on my os-6 and when I started it up it pegged the needle all the way to the right. Is this normal or do I have a problem? Thanks,Don.

Which gauge? Does it drop some when it warms up? Whats the condition of the engine? My 41 M will run all the way up until it gets warms.

The oil pressure should be checked with a master gauge. if between 60 and 75 it is great. Just use a gauge with a greater range. If over 75 the relief is stuck, Pulling the pan is access to the pump. JimN

What kind of gauge? What is the top pressure of the gauge? Most of these 248-281 motors I have seen will run at 60 lbs of oil pressure. If you have way more than that your pressure relief valve in the oil pump could be stuck.
