You use a different gasket when it is a C123, which has smaller passages, they all had water pumps. You put a water pump on a themosiphon tractor, therefore you still use the thermosiphon gasket because you did not change the head or block.

gm: When I did my SA, the technician wanted me to work it hard for 4 to 5 hours. Maybe you should work it more than retorque again.

I think having the right gasket is most important if thermosyphon. It may be as important to have the right one for the water pump as well, however probably not crucial. Someone will jump on me if wrong.

Hugh, you are exactly correct. The smaller ports in the "Pump" gasket assists coolant flow to the rear of the block/head. Unless the unit is running with a radiator that just marginally keeps it cool, it will be fine. JimN
