New Farmall 560 and fast hitch plow question-

I just picked up a farmall 560 with a fast hitch 3 bottom plow. I don't know if I can explain this, but the plow pivots in front when the fast hitch is raised up keeping the back end of the plow on the ground still. This causes a problem when transporting the plow on the road due to the rear steel plow wheel riding on the ground. But the bigger problem is when I try to plow with it, the plow doesn't dig in. It pivots the opposite way, swinging the rear of the plow up in the air. Does anybodyone know what I am talking about? Does anyone have experience with this type of plow who can tell me what I am doing wrong, or what needs to be done to fix it? I am thinging about welding the pivot area solid so it will be solid, or else add a solid top link to the plow to keep it from pivoting, but I am hoping that there is a more simple way. Thanks for any help.

As soon as I can get it to work, I will put a picture of a 211 and a 412 which is one of each kind of hitch used in implement photo's.

Thanks for the replies so far! To respond to each of you- it is a fast hitch plow with the fast hitch prongs to connect it. But there was a homemade top link welded on to the plow, I'm sure to solve this problem. To me, it seems this added top link was a "band-aid" to get the past owner by, but I was hoping to get it back to original if possible. It pivots on the plow frame, not the fast hitch.

Just because it has fast hitch prongs does not make it a fast hitch plow.

The prongs could be 3 point-to-fast hitch adapters that slip over the 3 point pins on the plow.

Disconnect the tractor from the plow. Now look at the prongs.

Are they held on to the plow by a single large bolt or pin? If you can pull the prongs off the plow by removing one large bolt, or a quick clip, then you do NOT have a fast hitch plow. It is a 3pt hitch plow, and you will need a top link to make it work correctly.

'Spose it is one of those semi-mount arrangements like Geroge is talking about?

A picture sure would tell the tale.

I tried to put a picture of a 412 in the implement photo's but they seem to be down. It says error when I try to go there.

The fast hitch connection is definately an integral part of the plow. I am familiar with the conversions that are available and I know that they are nothing like that. I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

There were different models of plows. The 311 is for full mount with solid mount prongs. The 312 is a semi mount type with a pivoting hitch. It can have bolts put in it to make it rigid and should cure the problem.

Then there are some bolts missing from the plows 2-point hitch. It should not "pivot" in any manner at all.

The plow pulls itself into the ground, the hitch/tail wheel/skid holds it out. When it is set correctly, all that tractor should "see" at the hitch is pull load and running height.

There is a hole in the front of the FH socket, you put a pin in it to lock the socket in place, that should take care of the plow riding up when you lower it. As far as the tailwheel dragging I'm really not sure, those sockets should only pivot one way, should lift fine and pivot to almost give a no-down pressure condition when lowered. The pin for the real down pressure control is below the bottom end of the cylinder.

Is it pivoting on the plow frame or the fast hitch on the tractor? If it is the tractor hitch you have some pins missing.

You're not using a 2-point hitch on a 3-point plow with adaptors are ya?

The hitch ought to sissor in one direction only. Up in front of the prong sockets.
