Farm All Cub cuts out when hot / fuel line vacuum?

After running for 15 minutes or so my '57 cub sputters and dies.
No fuel at carb, but when I disconnect line at filter and then reconnect flow returns. Filter is new, carburetor. recently serviced, but still a bit iffy as to the gasket seal (metal was warped, screws had stripped the housing). Fuel line drops from the sediment bowl and lays atop the transmission housing just where the engine connects to the main body of the tractor. It seems pretty hot in this area - could that be causing problems in the fuel line?
Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

Thanks to all of you Cub sages for your replies. The tank was flaking a fair bit of rust, so I had it acid cleaned and lined last season, and also installed an in line filter that was purchased at the local IH dealer. No one commented on the possible complications of the fuel line heating up a bit - I"ll look into replacing the rubber tubing with metal just in case. I"ll probably pull the filter, though many have warned me that gas tank (re) linings don"t always hold up. I"ll call the dealer too and make sure the filter they sold me was for a Cub.

"...flooding into the minds of the concerded youth of today." Frank Zappa, 1970.

Georgeky, old, and Hal are almost certainly right. Do a search on the archives and you will probably turn up many posts from people reporting symptoms identical to yours that were also using after-market filters of the wrong type for a gravity feed system.

In addition I would note that people usually hang extra fuel filters onto a system that is problematic. They will rarely do so on a good working system, although I'm sure it happens occasionally.

If you have not removed the sediment bulb and examined its contents lately, you might have a look.

Also, if the interior of the tank has not been examined, that might not be a bad idea.

I got a friend that had the same type problem. He had an in-line fuel filter in the system on his B. I went up an looked at it for him and throw the fliter in the back of my truck and hooked the line back up with out it in the system. It has run just fine ever since, easest case of beer I have ever got.

Some of those inline filters are not for gravity flow fuel systems like your Cub has. My garden tractor has an inline fuel filter, but they are designed for gravity flow. Your local auto parts store may have a filter or your local Case/IH dealer. I would remove that filter and let the strainer and sediment bowl do the filtering. Hal

Are you using an inline filter? If so it needs to be one for gravity flow and installed in the right direction. You could have debris in your tank blocking the outlet.
