I would like some opinons in buying decals. Im not quit finished painting the M but its getting close! I have been useing hardner and it is making the paint a little more glossy. What is the best way to go, Mylar or Vinyl? I figure you see the clear coating on the Mylar but is the Vinyl individual letters where I could possibly get them on a little out of shape?

Thanks Derek

I prefer the vinyl, easier to apply, and it does not become discolored with age. It is not original, but neither is the acrylic urethane paint I use. I am not a purist. I don't understand your "out of shape" question. It is a lot easier to mess up the mylar than the vinyl, particularly if you only use it every 2 or 3 years as I do.

If it was good enough for IH when the tractor was new, then it's good enough for me now, but it's your tractor, and I'm not going to tell you what is right and what is wrong. I have found that the clear backing on the mylar will pretty much disappear over time. It helps to park the tractor out in the hot sun after it is done. I can still see the clear coating, but it is not nearly as noticeable now as when I first applied them.

Mylar was factory, but I prefer the vinyl. They were much more expensive, but I like the look. It's pretty hard to get them out of shape if you're careful putting them on. The small print below the large letters "McCormick-Deering Farmall" of the vinyl set I have is still mylar.
As always, opinions vary.
