I have an old farmall or McCormick Deering 7"sickle bar mower. I can not find any serial numbers. It bolts on to the drawbar of like an F20 or newer series tractors like an H or M. It has a gear box where the PTO hooks in with a pulley sticking behind that runs a pulley below thar run the pittman arm to run the sickle bar.I need information about that bottom pulley and housing. Ther bearings in that bottom housing have went bad. I have the shaft pulled out. I am not sure how the pulley assembly comes off and how it all needs to go backe together since the bearings were out and everything just sort of pulled out any help or advice someone can give me would be appreciated.

Rebuilding it with modern ball bearings would improve the unit. Either using a set of plate mounted pillow block bearings W/grease fittings (Motion Industries), or working on the original mounts. JimN

Since you have the shaft out you should press it out of the pulley. I would also press it back on. These are cast iron and tend to break fairly easy if hit much with a hammer or pryed on. That is why I need a pulley for my 31 someone tried to pry it off.

So the pulley is pressed on. Once I get the pulley off I also need to press off what is left of the bearings. Since it sounds like you have had experience with this how does everything go back together once I get new bearings and everything. Thanks for your help.

George I believe I have most of one carcass with the pulley, will check tomorrow and let you know. You are welcome to the entire carcass. As I recall it is mostly just missing the sicle bar part.

I would sure appreciate it. I bought one from a guy in Tennessee that turned out to be the wrong part. Let me know when you will be around and I will come over and look around. My email is open.
