My nieghbor has a 574 that overheats on him when he uses his pto. He says it never gets hot plowing snow or using the loader, only when pto is turning. I disconnected the rotary mower he has mounted on it and it spins nice and free, any idea`s.

kinda odd. Make sure the mower is in good shape, no seized bearings, sharp blades.

I would also do a general cooling system check. Seems running a mower would be more demanding then using hydraulics every now and then to plow or run loader. The mower is a constant demand device, unlike the hydraulics. What makes you say it overheats? temp gauge goes high or it boils over or what?

Sounds like more of inadequate cooling then anything having to do directly with the pto, its just a matter of the pto loads up the engine more then running a few hydraulic cylinders...

Clean out the radiator with compressed air, make sure the fan works, has the thermostat ever been replaced and so on..

574"s Run hot but they need plenty of hydraulic fluid. My expert says to keep hydraulic level high. P.s. Change hydraulic filter too.
