Resent engine rebuild, while attempting to restabe distributor, must have reversed shaft, TDC is wrong. Runs rough at high RPM & low RPM, but smooths-out a half throttle. ??? TDC? Distributor? Timing?

You could have the drive gear off one tooth. Find #1 compression (finger in the plug hole trick) then line up tdc and the rotor should point to #1 and points should just be opening. If so you are close. Rough idle could be mixture and same for high end--check carb and fuel flow, might be starving at high RPM.

Thank you for your comments. Fuel system has been completely gone-thru, if anything it may be getting too much fuel, maybe?? Is #1 cy to the left or to the right asyou face the block? sorry for stubid question!! my first time at this. there is a key-way mark on the back-side sprocket of crank shaft pully,...should this be on the very top, when #1 is at tdc??? Agin, thanks for your intrest and comment. RUSTY in TX
