Here's a 1066 being sandblasted by Oscar Jutte's son, Eric. Eric just had serious back surgery in Germany 2 months ago. Hal
PS: And the finished tractor.

That's a working tractor with duals, but it could be in a parade. Hal

Nice looking 1066. She sure is pretty. But does it run? Just kidding. My brothers have their 1066 purring like a tiger but she has some pretty sad looking clothes. When we dug potatoes last fall I was driving along side the 10 with my C pulling the tator wagon. The 10 was in L4 with TA ahead and about 2400 rpms. That straight pipe sure got your attention. Some day they hope to get the old girl painted but for now she is the ugly duckling.

It doesn't need to run when they look pretty, just kidding. I'm almost certain he used Martin Senour paint. Hal

WOW! She sure turned out pretty.

I"ve been wondering about the pros and cons of sandblasting a complete tractor. Looks like with the right equipment, it"s the way to prep one in a hurry. I"m sure there are areas one would want to stay away from.

In the first pic, it looks like he moved the rear wheels out as far as he could on the axles. I"ve never thought about it, but that a pretty slick way to give yourself a little more room to work.

Mitch

Hi Mitch, Here 's another view. Preparation is everything and this young man is a teen that did this. I'm sure his dad is closeby. Hal

That is pretty. He really did a good job. If he"ll take that kinda pride in everything he does, he"ll go far in life.

I"ve got one that needs painting. I geuss I really should get the gear noise quietened down first.

Thanks for the extra pic.

Mitch

It's like anything you do, you need the experience. Each time you do it you will get better. Its nice to have the equipment too. Where I worked they stopped the outside sandblasting since a lot things they were blasting had lead paint on them. They used lead shot too for blasting. This was on heavy items.

When a dealer wants you to do them it's because you are doing the job for LESS MONEY than he spend paying his own people.

As Rusty has said it isn't necessarily so since this dealer doesn't have the equipment for sandblasting and the supplied air system that's required for the paint being used today. The Martin Senour paint doesn't come cheap either. Hal

Not exactly true. Hiring outside vendors for certain jobs IS less expensive for a dealer, but that is because it is very expensive for a dealer to set up a paint shop that will meet ALL of the E.P.A. and O.S.H.A. regulations.

A dealer has to pay his employees anyway if he wants to keep them. Hal
