I have 2 super a tractors with snow plows. on the'47 I built my own lift mechaism and userd the factory hydraulics to rase and lower with a cable to the rear lift arms and a couple of pulleys. The '54 came with a plow but I dont think all of the hardware is original. can any one send me a pix or tell me how the lift arm is supposed to be fastened to the tractor frame? I am beginning to think that it should piviot on a shaft that goes in to the square receiver under the steering box.

John: Take a look at scotty's photo. The factory brace went up to side of torque tube. Scotty has his braced to final drives, a much better way. Those little tractors are able enough to break casting, thus the closer you brace it to rear wheels the stronger it is. However keep the blade push beam pivot under front axle, the lift easier and higher.

If you want, send me an e mail, mine is a total fabrication, anchored at front cultivator mount, clutch housing and both final drives. i can send you a couple of photos. These guys all make fun of me using it like I have a bulldozer. They can laugh all they want, I can use it like a bulldozer, and I do. I have the worst driveway on my road for snow, (wind factor). When I moved here 5 years ago all my neighbors with 100+ hp tractors laughed a my thinking I was going to keep this driveway open with my Farmall 130. They don't laugh anymore.

Hi John, This is a Cub blade that I made bigger by 14" and higher also. I made the under tractor frame and the pivot assembly to accomodate my 49 Farmall Super A.

Any questions, give me a shout.

Sweet lookin tractor and nice klooking plow and frame. I have already built a frane to connects to the finals but the frame in the front is suspended from the two ears attached to the "receiver?" under the steering box. I'm not sure what to call the 2' square tube which goes under the engine. I believe that is what the cultivator hoos up to but not sure. The plow for my '47 was already extednd when I got it and I believe it was for a cub. at least that was what I was told. I added about 8'more to the entire top of it after the storm here in Jan of 96. I dont have any pix of my tractors that I can send and my new digital camera disapeared when I had some work done heare at the house. Hey- thanks for the help

Chad, nice pix, I think it answered my question regarding the piviot point but created another one. Where does the vertical part of the plow frame hook to on the oposite side of the tractor from the pivot point. Is there another square shaft that slides into the receiver under the engine with an attachment point on it for the frame?

JK
PS your A looks like and old bear, always runs, just dont look like much. My '47 looks about the same but it will always start and it runs great although it is long past due for and engine overhaul.. My '54 looks much nicer and runs great motor is like new sheetmetal is great could use some paint and it would look like new. Did you raise the head lights up on the radiator shell? I have thought abut doing that to mine. The snow plow hardware keeps bendind the mount for the light.

No that tractor just came that way I just bought it. I wanted a super A but this A will do just fine for now. I like the lights up there reminds me of my cub.
I sold the weights, blade and tire chains sicne I already had all that stuff.
So I got $150.00 into this A right now.
It is going to be a grass cutter and that is it.
I will find a super A and put my other factory blade on it! IT is in much better shape

Does look lokie a cub with the lights up there. I paid $400 for my '47 in '74 or '74. I got a molboard plow, factory grader blade, (belly Mount) and a mowing machine with it. It had brand new tires and a new battery along with a tune up just before i bought it. Some poor old duffer who loved his A went to Florida to help take care of a sick buddy and while he was gone his wife sold me his tractor. I did not know the circunstances and te time I bought it but found out from a very upset husband when I went back in the spring and picked up the mowing machine. I paid $2000 for the '54 which admittedly was too much but sure does run sweet and dosnt look too bad. I got the snow plow with it but the hook up isn't quit right. The folks were asking 3500, but that was way to much. After I got it home I had to change the front crankshaft seal. If I had known how much work that was I would have offered about $1500. I've see some good pictures which have helped quite a bit but I still need some detail as to how the vertical part of the plow frame fastens under the motor or the steering box.. Thank for the help

JK
