I have a Farmall 100 and it has lost power over the last couple of years. I replaced the spark plug wires, but it stalls out when I go up a hill without any attachments connected. It cranks good and runs good. I have notice that it seems to be hitting on only 3 cylinder but if I arc the plug the other cylinder hits. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

I agree, sounds like a fuel problem. Some of these tractors have a screen on the end of the elbow where the fuel line screws into the carb. It is on the carb. side. If it gets cloged the tractor will loose power at the slightest load.

Robert, I think we need a little more information. It sounds like a fuel problem. Check the fuel flow through the carb. Once an engine begins to lean or starve out it will begin to missfire. But determine that you have good flow before we go to the next step.

I have a similar problem with my 140, after 30 minutes it seems to loose power. RPM seems to stay the same. In another discussion I learned that the unleaded gas today my be my problem. My Neighbor told me that his A had the same problem. The answer seems to be lead substitute. I bought some yesterday and have not tried it yet. I will be using the tractor today and will let you know if there is any improvement. Anyone else have any info or suggestions.

I have had the same thing happen to mine. I haven't had it that long, and I think it sat for a while before I got it. The screen in the fuel filter was not in the greatest shape, and the screen tube in the carb inlet would clog up. The gas tank is not exactly rust free, so it happened a lot. I not only replaced the screen in the filter bowl, but I added an in-line fuel filter, going under the assumption that it probably filters out smaller particles than the brass screen in the original filter. The new brass screen must be helping a lot, cuz the filter bowl is now filling up about half way every couple hours, whereas before it never filled at all. The in-line filter can't be doing any harm, except for maybe bothering an asthetic purist, which I am not.
