Ok guys I need some advice so I can get my husband to stop yapping at me!. We wen to an auction this past week and bought some nice implements for our nice SMALL 2N ford tractor. Then he wants to bid on thisd BIG UGLY W450 IH. He swears he missed the deal of his lifetime.(I keep telling him his tell of his lifetime was finding the 32' John Deere GP wide tread for 25 bucks and he sold it at auction for $13,500! that was HIS deal of a life time, not gonna happen again!) anyway this big tractor had power steering, steel wheels, was styled and had some kind of torque transmission. all this for ONLY $1,200! please tell me that this was a fair price and not some rare bird that was worth much more. I don't need to hear too many more days of "you should have let me buy that tractor, what a deal I missed"

$1200 was a fairly low price for that unit, but remember that your husband may not have gotten it for that price. If he would have bid $1250 or $1300, who knows where it may have gone from there. That is always the uncertainty about auctions. You can't go away thinking that what the other person paid for it is what you would have paid for it. If two people want the same thing badly enough, up goes the price. I bought a Farmall 450 at an auction last fall even though I wasn't particularly interested in it and certainly didn't go to the sale to get that tractor. However, once I got started bidding on it at a low price, I didn't stop till I had it and I paid way too much for it. So, at an auction sale, who knows what will happen. It is always a gamble. Enjoy your 2N and something else good will come along.

If it was in fair/good shape, and everything worked, and was complete, that was a pretty good deal. Very nice machine for working.
