Farmall H stuck in gear(s)?

I have a Farmall H that seems to be simultaneously stuck in two gears (reverse and one forward). I have removed the gear shift lever and aligned the shifting dogs into what I believe to be neutral (large gap in all three are aligned), but when I let out the clutch it is still stuck in gear(s) and stalls the engine. Please help, thanks!

my H locked up like that too come to find out the roller bearing between the input shaft and the pinion shaft went bad and some of the rollers got between the bottom trans. case and the constant mesh gear. I'd put it in 5th gear and rock it a little and would be fine for awhile then it finally took all the teeth off the gear oops too smart too late merry christmas.

You can also access the shifting rails by removing the pto cover in front of the transmission. Thats how i got mine unstuck. I could never figure out out to take the gearshift out from the top!

Thanks Dave and Bob! I got it unstuck. However, even after aligning the shift rails to neutral, the tractor still seemed to be stuck in gear(s) and would stall when the clutch was let out. I moved the shift rails into 5th gear position, used a bungee to keep the clutch disengaged, and then pulled the tractor a short distance (with the coil wire off); that apparently unjammed the gears. And yes, the pawl on the shifter is definitely worn, especially on the front edge. Thanks again!! Now I have another question. I've noticed that when the clutch is disengaged, whether in gear or out, there is a knocking noise apparently coming from somewhere in the clutch assembly. The noise stops when the clutch is engaged. What's the problem here?

Sounds to me your pilot bearing is worn quite abit, allowing clutch disc and clutch shaft to run in "out of round condition" Like loading a wash machine with tennis shoes. Looks like you'll have to split the tractor for that problem, be a good time to take a good look at clutch plate and throw-out bearing.

Bob M is probably right. You'll need to rem. pin, spring and convex flange on your gear shift lever. Then you can see what you have. This will be a good time to check for wear on your shifter pawls. If you have too much, you may want to build up with a hard weld and refit.

Chuck - You sure you've got the transmission in neutral? The gaps in all (3) shift rails must be in line and CENTERED under the shift tower to put the transmission in neutral. (If they are all in line, but ahead or in back of center, the transmission in is 3 gears at once!)
