I have a 560 that I am about to paint, noticed head gasket leaking oil on push rod side only, so I tightened head bolts to 90ft/lbs today and reset valves, all head bolts on push rod side loose probably a quarter of a turn, drove her 4 or 5 miles to wash off remaining oil noticed while idling that I could see compression bubbling thru head gasket on push rod side. My question is it the sleeves shaking down in the block or just probably a burnt head gsk sealing ring that causing the leak. I realize I probably won't know tell I pull the head off. What's your professional opinion.

Todd george is wrigth on the refacing of the head , also with the new head gskt's they have a hard time sealing even after you reface the head. I use spray COPPER COATE on both sides of the gskt and i have found that if you go to the diesel toqure spec. instead of the gas spec. it will seal also re toqure the head with the engine at running temp. I let them run for about and hour at around 1500 rpm.

Dad had a 560 that was doing that, he put 3 head gaskets on in 4 months one year. Had the head resurfaced and it was good for the next 5 years till he sold it.

560 heads have a habit of warping and/or cracking. Take the head off, have it magnafluxed and pressure checked, THEN have it planed and put it back on if you want to do it right.

Terry, I completly rebuilt my 806 gas, the head gasket was bad as well as two valves and it was burning oil so I did a complete oh. Well the head seemed ok so I didn't have it surfaced BAD MISTAKE it had little compression bubbles tween' the head and block under the spark plugs just like it did before so I pulled the head again and had it checked/surfaced it was .017 high in the center So I would suggest to have the head surfaced when you install a new head gaskett. Been there done that Luck, George
