Does anyone know of any places that would make replacement serial number plates for a Farmall F-20? I just had a tractor donated to our local FFA Chapter and it is missing the tag. I believe it is a 1938 F-20 because it still has some of the factory red paint there... But, any assistance that could be provided would be appreciated.

The serial number should be stamped on top of the frame rail just behind the clutch housing on the carburator side of the tractor.

OK,

After further review, and a wire brush. The F-20 is a 1935 model... Serial Number 26525. Thank you all for your help, this really helps... Here's another question, The 1935 model would be gray paint with red accents, correct? Once again, thank you for the help.

Gray and red are correct for the paint. Enjoy your project.

Yes, there is--but first let me relate my courageous story. I bought an F-20 myself about a year ago. I went to look at it twice and after I left both times I could have kicked myself for failing to make sure that there was an appropriate serial number tag. I had agreed to buy it the second time but I thought "Naaaaah!" I't got to be there. Where else would it be?" When he arrived the following weekend I was all excited and sure enough-failed once again to check until it was all unloaded and the deal was for all practical purposes over. When I finally remembered to look I must have stood unblinking with my eyes open for half a minute before I pointed out the location of the missing tag. I think his shock must have nearly equalled mine and I believed him when he said that it had been there but must have
been stolen during the previous summer at a show which they held at his son laws farm. I didn't really feel right telling him to just pack it up and take it back but I can tell you it was a mighty bad feeling to start out with on a new project. The following night he called me back and he was able to tell me the serial number which he had taken the time to record since he has a rather large and wide ranging collection of tractors going as far back as 1919. But what was even more incredible was that he was able to give me the address and phone number of a company that made reproduction tags, which is: D&D, 840 12th Street NW, Mason City IA 50401 Phone number 515-423-3068. Keep trying! You can get the main office but the guy you need to talk to about making reproductin tags isn't there 40 hours a week. If I recall he WAS there on Mondays. After checking another F-20 I found that the tag I wanted was the #IH4 style which I recommend that you write down, you are going to need to know that. I cost me somewhere between 25-30 bucks but it is absolutely perfect and apart from being shiny and new you would never know it wasn't original. I don't know if you know your serial number or not but if you do they will stamp it for you for added authenticity. Good luck! You won't be disappointed.

There is someone out there who makes new tags but I haven't found the ad in ANTIQUE POWER yet. As for the serial number look at the left hand side rail near the transmission for the serial number.

there are three places on the f-20,f-30 to find the serial #. the third place is on the engine block at the back(carb side)on a raised pad.my tractor was built before nov.1st 1936 but the engine was built after.(a gray tractor w/red engine & red wheels?).most toolbox serial#plates on tool boxes (f-series)are nearly off because of vibration, the plates are solid nickle sheet, soft and easy for the hard brass rivets to cut thru over the years of vibration. the plate probably wasn't stolen.
