A gentleman gave us a copper-colored medallion/coin today. On the face of the coin is Cyrus-Hall-McCormick, dated 1809-1884 (yr of birth & yr of death) & "inventor of reaper". On the back side, is a picture of a man/reaper, and
pair of horses--states Internationsl Harvestor
Company, "Centennial of the Reaper, 1831-1931".
Can anyone give me any history about this medallion/coin??? I have never seen one before.
Any help is very much appreciated. E-mail-Thanks!

J Jensen, these were given out by Mc Cormick dealers and there a quite a few of them. I have managed to get one. I am not sure when they were a dealer Hand out but I believe it was in the 1930's. If you purchased machinery the dealer would give you this medallion and I think it was given out for other occasions as well. I was at a show in Ontario and a I-H collector had come across a huge reproduction of this coin about 14" across and weighed 50lbs...exact replica of the coin...I think replica...would be something if the company had made large ones for dealer promotion. I hope some one else can give us more information....Mike in Exeter Ontario
