George W. is probably the worst president this century. To bad all of our young solders have to die because of his poor leadership.

I too was pleased with his speach. He set out his administration's policy and the realization that we are dealing with a group of people who despise us and will continue to do so inspite of what we do to try to appease them. Bad guys are bad guys and will bully and abuse any and all whom they believe to be weaker or less determined than they. George Bush is a God fearing man and is unashamed to admit that. God bless him, his advisors and America. I lived through the WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and the follies perpetrated by the last administration. This is the first time in about 50 years I've really been proud to say I'm an American.

Mike et al: A couple TV networks report various polls at approx 95 percent approve of that speech. About as high as any human speech can get. R.

What Do I think? I think he is feeding the American public -and the world- a line, the media is filling our heads with propaganda. The US. go to war? anyone who agrees with this needs to sit down and think for a while, if we go bomb them or send troops there we are just as bad as the terrorists themselves, we hear of the terrorism and bombing going on in Israel and Ireland as well as elsewhere and shake our heads wondering why, I spoke with a man from northern Ireland a while ago and he mentioned his life there with all the shooting and bombings, and was very upset that this country ( yes the USA.) provided the weapons etc. Using the judgement of Bush etc. that would mesn we are just as bad as the terrorists themselves! I have to agree. How many times in the past ten or so years have we bombed and/or sent troops to the mid east? nobody is enraged,(at least not the US. citizens) nobody here is saying how barbaric and evil Clinton is for sending our boys over there to "keep peace" and kill people and ruin their buildings. True it was horrible to see the planes crash into the buildings and have all of those people die, and I feel for them and their families, but going over to Afghanistan or anywhere and bombing or fighting, sending troops or equipment is just as barbaric and horrible as what the terrorists did here, as well as lowering ourselves to their level. We cry for world peace, we tell other nations to stop fighting and get along with each other, now is the time to be an example to them and handle this sanely, don't go bomb anybody find out who REALLY did this and eliminate them and only them if you have to punish them, better yet don't make them hate us in the first place get out of other nations affairs and stop funding other nations wars. Promote peace if you are for peace and if not then stop saying you want peace.

I welcome comments

Christopher

Christopher,

I see you are off your meds again. Chronic encephalo-proctosis can be very debilitating. Please seek help as soon as you can.

Remember...thankfully, your guy lost and the media propaganda is at a much lower level than it has been for at least 8 years. It isn't very likely now that we will bomb an innocent asperin factory. The adults are in charge now.

I thought Our Presidents message was one of the best he's ever given. He gets better all the time. I wish he would have told the terrorists to make sure they sleep with one eye open, and to sleep tight if you can, because WE'RE COMING.

Mike: Reply to Mr Ansary that I found his letter interesting and agree with the first half up to the point he said the "only way" to get ben Laden is by ground troops. Wrong. If the major countries do wake up and unite with information in ALL AREAS, besides just military, we will have him "pinned down". That's an effective end to major mass terror. There is no perfect end to evil untill judgement day. Keeping him and others like him pinned down will work. I like a perment world united to track and restrict all like him more than just killing just one person by the name Ben Laden. Kill him and another will arise. Have a network ourselves to counter all like him will be better long term. Also tell him CNN had a great two hour show detailing ben Laden's history and his network. Very informative. I also liked George Bush's speach very much. ralph

1. Pakistan is not the only neighboring country. So no we do not have to go thru them.

2. He mentions something needs to be done. Then comes back and suggests ground troops, but them go on to site how horad this would be. Siting that this would lead to killing of our boys and innocent Afghanistan people. He does not seem to realize that innocent Americans were killed, and by harboring terrorist organizations their gov't is just as responsible. Actually killing innocent people would be the way to go. A terrorist is willing to give his life. Fine. Make them realize that even though they are dead, we along with our allies are going to remove their families from existence.

3. This clown seems to think we should just sit back to avoid future deaths. Brilliant. I think he should go home and defend his family back in Afghanistan, and stay out of here.

President Bush's speech was one for the ages. I dont't normally agree with the phrase "If your not part of the solution your part of the problem", But in this case I can withoout a doubt say this is true. While this is not a quote from the President ,I think that about sums it up. I will be a proud American until the day I die. Please keep our service men and women in your thoughts and prayers, for they protect all that we stand for.

I was also impressed. But I think it's going to be a long, hard road for some, if not all, of us. Like Dubya said, it's time to get back to our work and show the terrorists that we are not afraid, and will not, cannot be pushed around by cowardly attacks like theirs.

If we continue to live as we want, practice our liberties, and pursue our goals of better lives for everyone we will do as much to defeat these fools as we will do with military might. We cannot depend on either economic or military strengths alone, we will need both to win this war.

I guess this subject is a little off topic, but certainly important.
We heard your Presidents speech live in Aus. and I for one, as were most Australians, very impressed. We have a few wankers down here a bit concerned that "the Yanks" are going to go over the top. But the vast majority are of the opinion, that the response has been very measured and absolutely committed. Good luck, we'll be doing what we can to help. Regards, Redfan.

I felt that the election result (now 9 months ago) was a wake up call from God and I feel that George W. was elected because of an event like this. Remember God knew the end before the beginning and as long as George W holds onto his convictions and we follow him and Him freedom will prevail.

Ordinarily I would have flinched when seeing this sort of question/comment on this board, but these are extraordinary times and some things are more important (than others). I have to say that I agree with all of the comments heard so far and was really in step with NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani's comment, "Thank God that George W. Bush is our president!"

It will take every one of us to root out all the terrorists in the world, thank God we are being led by a man who will take a MORALE stand and look to Almighty God for direction. I think it was long overdue to tell the world "You are either for us or aginst us" there shall be no middle ground in the execution of justice!

If one speech could define a presidency this could be the best example since Lincoln's Gettysburg address. The man was sincere and stern in his words and promise to "deliver us from evil" as he so well put it. He did not use a teleprompter which tells me he spoke his mind and if what he said is on his mind, I'd be scared to death if he were after me.
