Today I stopped by NAPA for some head parts on a Farmall M. NAPA asked me if I needed the valve seals to go with the valves and etc.. I have never heard of valve seals for an M. Has anybody out there heard of, or used these? They told me it will take a machine shop and special tool to install these.

The seals are rubber or neoprene boots that slide down the stem. Got mine from the IH dealer and they weren't too high priced. I don't know how long they last though.

WITH THE FUEL OF TODAY BURNING SO DRY USING VALVE SEALS ON TRACTORS CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS THAN DOING ANY GOOD, THEY ARE POSSIBLY AVAILABLE BUT DON'T TAKE THE CHANCE OF STICKING VALVES

I asked the same question. I was assured they were "seals" and not valve guides. I think they were looking at the wrong application.

It sounds to me as if those seals are the crimp on , positive oil seals,I think they are made by Perfect Circle. This type is used quite a bit in high performance automotive engines, but I've never seen them used on a tractor engine....Makes me think maybe they seal out too much oil, causes the guides and valves to wear quicker? they were usually used along with bronze valve guides.
