I recently tuned up my '39 M with IH points, condenser, distributor cap, rotor button, plugs and plug wires. I also replaced the coil. It had previously been converted to a 12V coil system instead of the magneto. It ran fine for a couple of weeks then started missing. Leaving a 3/8"-1/2" gap between the plug wire and the plug makes it run smooth. The IH dealer is stumped. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Ed: You said leaving a 3/8 gap between wire and plug makes it run smoother. Having a gap increases the voltage build-up befor firing the plug. I've done this with a flooded engine when the plugs get wet with gas. It can help fire a wetplug. Are you getting oil buildup on the plugs? Wrong heat range of plug for the type of work its doing? Are all plugs needing this gap or just one? I'd supect fouled plug(s) first befor other things. ralph

Check your points. They may have moved.

Ed, Does it do this with all plugs? or just one?
Have you changed out the plug(s) since putting in the new ones? Sometimes a new plug will be defective. Also consider changing the wires again. Are you using copper wire core wires? Also check for play in the distributor shaft. If there is quite a bit of play adjust the points down to .018 and see if it makes a difference.//FB

THANKS to everyone! It ended up being bad plugs(even though they were new). I replaced them and all is well now and hopefully it will stay that way. No problem at all pulling loads of hay this weekend. Thanks again.
