With paint you get what you pay for. On a scale of 1-10, CIH paint (with hardner) is about a 5, for not much more money you can go to single stage urethane which would be about an 8, base coat/clear coat would be a 9 and I would put powder coating at 10. The urethane paint will last at least twice as long as the CIH paint, will be much more durable (harder), easier to work with and will look better. I think that clear coat would only be worth it if you are going to show the tractor or if it sits outside all the time. Most single stage urethanes allow you to mix clear into the last couple of coats giving the clear coat look and and protection. If you go with custom mixed automotive paints go with the brand that has the best dealer in your area, be it PPG, Dupont or whatever, they all have quality paint. I suggest you go to the painting forum below and look around.

It all depends what you plan on doing with the tractor. If you plan to skid logs with it out in the woods, then Case/IH paint is the best you want to use, but if it's a show tractor, than use urathane paint. Most guys use single stage paint, (no clear coat), but if you plan on color sanding and getting the finish looking like a Corvette, then by all means go with the 2-stage paint. (Base coat + clear coat). Pittburgh Paint has a line, "Omni" that isn't too expensive compared with Dupont, but still quite high when compared with acryllic enamel....I have the color codes for PPG if you are interested, email me....
